Connecting to the Internet as my Nintendo Wii with a Wii LAN adapter without a router?

I just bought a Wii LAN adapter at BestBuy Rocketfish. Also I bought a 50-foot Ethernet wire.I all connected the way the type BestBuy told me to do. One end into the modem and the other on the adapter. Can you help me?

Sorry for asking the obvious, but the Wii is not configured so you know to connect via a cable connection? Unlike a PC, the Wii will not know who is connected until it says it is. To do this in the Wii menu, go to Settings Circle Wii system logo>> Internet> Connection 1> with Wired connection. That should work. If not, contact Nintendo Customer Service.
