Xbox Adapter Alternative

Alternative for a xbox 360 wi fi adapter?

any cheaper alteratives to buy?

Unless you have a DD-WRT compatible router or a PC/laptop you can spare, not really. Other wireless adapter USB sticks don't work because you can't install the drivers on the Xbox 360 -- it won't recognize them (lame of Microsoft, I know). The only "wireless" alternatives are to connect Ethernet directly to a router that does DD-WRT so it can handle the wireless from yet another router or do Internet Sharing from a computer or laptop with wifi and an Ethernet port.

I couldn't stomach paying $100 on the official adapter just to add wifi (especially when the other consoles have it built in, for pete's sake!) and I didn't want to buy another router soley for DD-WRT. I happen to have an old laptop running XP that I hooked up behind the TV. I hooked up the 360 to its Ethernet port and shared out the laptop's wifi internet connection to it and it works great.
